Filey is a traditional Victorian English seaside town on the East coast in North Yorkshire. Renowned for its friendly atmosphere. A perfect place for those who want an active holiday, or for those who just prefer to relax. Hidden Gem is nestled in a quiet residential area on the West side of Filey, with the town centre a short walk away. Hidden Gem is at the head of a No Through road adjacent to the railway and pedestrian underpass. The property is situated on an Avenue with a flat approach from the front and one step to the rear. The property has three bedrooms two of which are on the ground floor. The family bathroom with grab rails to toilet, shower and bath is situated on the ground floor.
Animals are not permitted with exception to Guide Dogs & Hearing Dogs.
Hidden Gem has not been rated under the National Accessible Scheme but has taken steps to accommodate people who may need certain aids to assist with mobility.

Filey rail station is the nearest train station which is about 5 minutes away by car. The station is at the top end of town and about a 12 minute walk. There is a taxi service situated outside the station.
Filey bus station is situated at the top end of town which is about 3 minutes by car and 10 minute walk. Buses run regularly to Hull or Scarborough and timetables are available in the information folder. The bus station has seating and toilets.
The streets around the property are level and flat with lowered kerbs. Benches are in situation on West Avenue.
Hidden Gem has the following mobility equipment that can be requested free of charge:
- Self Propelled Folding Wheelchair and ramps to rear door
- Shower Seat and Step
A mobility shop is in Filey town where a range of mobility aids can be purchased and repairs are also undertaken. There is a Shopmobility in Scarborough where scooter hire is free. Tel:01723 369910

- Filey Country Park – Opposite Filey Country Stores – Seasonal
Winter opening hours (October to Easter) for Station Avenue, Coble Landing and Royal Parade are 7.30am to 6pm (Summer 7.30am to 8pm)
Other toilets that can be used include:
- Tesco – for the use of shoppers – an excellent disabled toilet facility
- Evron Centre on John Street – but only when the public are using the centre – Go through the door, turn right – Disabled access
- Filey’s pubs and Cafes – but you will have to be a customer
- A disabled toilet RADA key can be obtained from Filey Information Centre on John Street at its junction with Cargate Hill.
Shopping and Food Delivery
Currently, only restaurants and take-aways offer home delivery. However, Ocado and other supermarkets offer online shopping and delivery to the area if you order prior to your holiday. Iceland & Tesco offer a frozen food delivery service.
Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking
Hidden Gem keys are available from the Key Safe at the property. The key code will be provided prior to you visit either by email or post.
Keys should be kept by the persons named on the booking form and not left with visitors. Keys should be placed in the safe when going out so all parties have access to them and to prevent loss. The key safe is low level.
Hidden Gem will be vacant when you arrive and you are free to explore the property. If you require a meet & greet service on arrival please advise us prior to your holiday.
Parking is available on the private courtyard to the rear of the property and has level access via a private road. There is room for 2 cars.
Gravel forms the level surface on the courtyard area. There is paved area to the rear entrance door. Security lighting illuminates the drive, parking area and path.
A tarmac path and road are to the outside front of the property where public parking is available. The concrete path to the front entrance is level with one step up to the front patio and door. There is a security light and grab rail next to the front door. Highway lighting illuminates the Avenue to the front.
Public Parking in Filey
Parking in Filey during the summer Months can be difficult. The main car parks are at West Avenue, The Country Park and in the Town Centre behind the Bus Station and next to Tesco. There are a handful of Car Parking spaces near Coble Landing but these are usually gone by around 9am. There are spaces along the nearby Church Ravine, these are generally full by 10am.
There is also free parking on the road along the seafront (almost impossible in Summer) and in some of Filey Town’s central streets.
Please note that disabled badge holders are not exempt from the payment of the parking charges on the Council’s off street pay and display car parks.
2 – 7 day Car & Coach Parking
Tickets are available in advance from the Visitor and Information Centre or can be purchased when you arrive from the Visitor Information Centre, The Evron Centre, John Street, Filey, Tel: 01723 232323. The day of issue is free. The Evron Centre is open from 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday – Friday.
